Melania Trumps Rede beim republikanischen Nominierungsparteitag kommt vielen Beobachtern bekannt vor. Auch wenn die Ähnlichkeiten zu den Worten Michelle Obamas aus dem Jahr 2008 recht eindeutig sind, kann das Trump-Lager daran nichts finden.

Eklat bei Parteitag der Republikaner Melania Trump kopiert Michelle Obama

Donald Trumps Kampagnenteam hat Vorwürfe zurückgewiesen, seine Frau Melania habe bei ihrer Rede bei der Republican National Convention in Cleveland Teile einer Ansprache von First Lady Michelle Obama geklaut. "Zu denken, sie würde so etwas tun, obwohl sie weiß, wie eingehend ihre Rede beobachtet werden würde, ist einfach wirklich absurd", sagte Trumps Wahlkampfmanager Paul Manafort CNN.

Tatsächlich wirken Passagen der Rede Melania Trumps wie kopiert. Einzelne Ausdrücke, sowie die Inhalte sind nahezu identisch. Manafort sagte dagegen, die verwendeten Wörter seien allgemein gebräuchlich, die Ähnlichkeiten also Zufall: "Michelle Obamas Rede wurde nicht abgekupfert", sagte der Spin Doctor: "Zu glauben, sie (Melania Trump) würde Michelle Obamas Worte abkupfern, ist verrückt".

Manafort nutzte die Gelegenheit, Trumps demokratische Kontrahentin Hillary Clinton zu attackieren. Die Plagiatsverdächtigungen bezeichnete der Kampagnenchef als "ein weiteres Beispiel dafür, dass Hillary Clinton Frauen, die sie bedrohen, zu erniedrigen und zu demontieren versucht". Aus dem Weißen Haus und von Seiten Michelle Obamas gab es bisher kein Kommentar zu der Affäre.

Seit die abgekupferten Passagen bekannt geworden sind, wird in den USA breit darüber diskutiert, wie die offensichtlichen Plagiate in den Redetext gefunden haben. Manafort selbst sagte, er sei damit nicht befasst gewesen. Mehrere Mitarbeiter von Trumps Kampagne hätten damit zu tun gehabt.

Melania Trump, 2016: "From a young age, my parents impressed on me the values that you work hard for what you want in life that your word is your bond and you do what you say and keep your promise. That you treat people with respect. They taught me and showed me values and morals in their daily life. That is a lesson that I continue to pass along to our son, and we need to pass those lessons on to many generations to follow, because we want children in this nation to know that the only limit to your achievement ist he strength of your dreams and your willingness to work for them."
